Sussex type chair restoration

This chair, like many I restore, had sentimental value for the customer and required a lot of work. It was dismantled, and new seat rails in ash were made ready for the seat to be rerushed. The back legs had had woodworm so pieces of ash were spliced on and shaped to match the rest of the leg. After restaining work the chair was glued back together and was cleaned and polished.

This series of photos shows some of the steps and processes involved in restoring the chair.
